Sites

Amanita
Site dedicated to taxonomy, morphology, and ecology of Amanita with keys, species descriptions, and images. Nomenclatural subpages are in preparation.

Butterflies of the Soil Project
(Fungus TWiG of Great Smoky Mountains National Park ATBI) The volunteers "notebook" for this project includes extensive directions for collecting and annotating specimens of Amanita. Also, note forms are provided for macro characters and macrochemical testing. Sample species pages are all amanitas.

Checklist of Taxa from Mycological Herbarium Database
Belgian National Herbarium. Many taxa are from Africa and were described by Beeli.

Costa Rica, Macrofungi of
While this site treats all agarics and boletes found in the regions of Costa Rica that have been explored by the authors, they have given particular attention to Amanita. Several images of common as well as unusual and apparently new species.

Molecular phylogenetic studies in the genus Amanita
Abstracts in English and French.

Mycotaxon Cumulative Index, vol. 61-.

NY, Herbarium specimens of Amanita (worldwide) deposited in
Catalog of holding of Amanita specimens in the New York Botanical Garden cryptogamic herbarium. The list provides a simple mechanism to search a database now containing all Amanita collections at NY. Note that the name of the person determining is given for every collection for which that name is known. Very few spelling errors in names of taxa.

Oslo Mycological Herbarium, Resources of University of
A growing list of collections is coordinated with a mapping project for agarics of Norway. Maps are dynamically created on-line. Amanita determinations are being updated. Several Amanita taxa new for Norway were added in 1999.

Pennsylvania fungi, Herbarium specimens of
Searchable catalog of specimens of Pennsylvania fungi (University of Pennsylvania (PACMA)). A far as the Amanitaceae, many of the names supplied are European ones or commonly misapplied ones. The catalog does not indicate how recently material has been revised or who determined any individual collection.

The Toxic Amanita
Discusses the toxins present in the Amanita family and the symptoms and treatment of poisoning.
